=========================================================== Intel Adapter Firmware Release Notes for Version 17.0.12 =========================================================== The Dell Update Package for Intel Adapter Firmware (FW-DUP) must be used to update Option ROM and EEPROM to version 17.0.12. NOTE: On systems running Linux, the base driver must be loaded for the Dell FW DUP to function correctly. NOTE: On Windows, the devices must not be disabled in Device Manager for the firmware DUP to update them. NOTE: FW downgrade from FW 17.0.12 to FW 16.5.20 is NOT recommended. FW downgrade using FW 16.5.20 executable package on an OS will cause the following warning messages at system boot: "The driver for the device detected a new version of the NVM image than expected. Please install the most recent version of the network driver" To resolve the warning messages, use Lifecycle Controller to downgrade FW 17.0.12 to FW 16.5.20. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Do one of the following procedures to update the firmware on Intel network adapters: - Option A: OS Method 1. Run FW DUP 17.0.12 on the supported OS (Windows or Linux) 2. Reboot the system as instructed by the DUP Note: If upgrading the Intel network adapter firmware from version 14.5.x: 1. Run FW DUP 16.5.20 on the supported OS (Windows or Linux) 2. Reboot 3. Run FW DUP 17.0.12 4. Reboot the system as instructed by the DUP - Option B: Lifecycle Controller Method 1. Upgrade the Lifecycle Controller firmware to version 2.20.20.20 or newer and reboot 2. Upgrade the Intel network adapters to 17.0.12 via Lifecycle Controller Note: If upgrading the Intel network adapter firmware from version 14.5.x, an AC power cycle is required after upgrading to 17.0.12. Note: If there is an attempt to upgrade the Intel network adapter firmware version to 17.0.12 via Lifecycle Controller Firmware older than 2.20.20.20, the firmware upgrade attempt may fail. ============================ AC Power Cycle Requirements ============================ When updating the firmware from 14.5.x or older, an AC power cycle is required. When updating the firmware from 15.0.x or later, an AC power cycle is not required. Exceptions: - Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X540/I350 rNDC with PBA number G14843-xxx or G59298-xxx requires an AC power cycle after firmware update from 15.5.x or older ---------------------------------------------------------- * To perform an AC power cycle, you must do the following: ---------------------------------------------------------- 1. Shut down the system if it is powered up 2. Unplug all AC power cords from the system 3. Leave the AC power cords unplugged for 15 seconds to drain power from the system 4. Plug in AC power cords to the system ====================== Software Compatibility ====================== This release of firmware supports the following Network Adapters: Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520 Adapter Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520-k bNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X540-t Adapter Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X520/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X540/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G X520 LOM Intel(R) Ethernet X520 10GbE Dual Port KX4-KR Mezz Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350 LOM Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350-t Adapter Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350-t LOM Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t Adapter Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t bNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t Mezz Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P X520/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P X540/I350 rNDC =========================================== Release Version Information for Adapters =========================================== Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350 LOM Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350-t Adapter Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350-t LOM Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t Adapter Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t bNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t Mezz Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P X520/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Gigabit 4P X540/I350 rNDC -------------------------------------------- Intel Boot Agent 1.5.73 EFI Driver 6.9.07 Intel(R) Ethernet X520 10GbE Dual Port KX4 Mezz Intel(R) Ethernet X520 10GbE Dual Port KX4-KR Mezz Intel(R) Ethernet 10G X520 LOM Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520-k bNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520 Adapter Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X520/I350 rNDC Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X540-t Adapter Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 4P X540/I350 rNDC -------------------------------------------------- Intel Boot Agent 2.3.34 EFI Driver 5.0.16 Release Version Information Common ================================== iSCSI Boot ROM 3.0.54 FCoE Boot ROM 1.8.22 CLP Loader Option ROM 3.0.35 ================================================== Changes From Previous FW DUP Release ================================================== Previous release: 16.5.20 Current release: 17.0.12 =================== Option ROM Changes =================== UEFI Previous version: 1G v6.5.09, 10G v4.6.10 Current release: 1G v6.9.07 , 10G v5.0.16 Intel Boot Agent Previous version: 1G v1.5.62, 10G v2.3.34 Current release: 1G v1.5.73 , 10G v2.3.34 FCoE Boot Previous version: v1.8.22 Current release: v1.8.22 iSCSI Boot Previous version: v3.0.44 Current release: v3.0.54 CLP Loader Option ROM Previous version: v3.0.30 Current release: v3.0.35 =================== Enhancements =================== - Added support for Intel(R) Ethernet 10G X520 LOM - Added FW DUP support for Windows PE 10 - Default value for Virtual FIP MAC address changed to "00:00:00:00:00:00" =================== Fixes =================== - Incorrect LED behavior on Intel(R) Gigabit 2P I350-t Adapter and Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t Adapter - Incorrect VLAN ID value range information in BIOS - [NIC Configuration] help, the correct value range is 1-4094 - X520-k bNDC port fails to establish link after a system reboot - Virtual MAC address is not inventoried in iDRAC on Intel(R) Ethernet 10G X520 LOM - Unable to change "Wake On LAN" setting in BIOS "NIC Configuration" page on Intel(R) Ethernet 10G X520 LOM - Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520-k bNDC interface incorrectly reports the link is UP after network cable is disconnected from 1GbE pass-through module - iDRAC LOM Failover does not work on Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X520-k bNDC fails when connected to 1Gbit Pass-through module - Firmware DUP update from 15.0.28 to 16.5.20 fails on X520 devices - Firmware update fails with "Image iSCSI offset exceeds image size" message on T620 LOMs - ePSA Diagnostics test intermittently fails on Intel(R) Ethernet 10G X520 LOM - Intel(R) Gigabit 4P I350-t bNDC device fails to use the chassis assigned FlexAddress correctly =================== Known Issues =================== - Intel(R) Ethernet 10G X520 LOM does not blink the LED when user enters value to "Blink LEDs" in BIOS Device Settings - System may hang during boot when 6 or more Gigabit 4-Port adapters with full Option ROM enabled - 1G devices do not wake from system shut down after enabling Wake on LAN from the OS if "Wake On LAN" is disabled on the device in BIOS Device Settings - Device Configuration options on I350 adapter ports are missing from F2 - Device Settings after upgrading firmware from 14.5.x to 17.0.12 on supported OS (Windows or Linux).
